Land use practices have
long-term consequences
but this fact is often neglected in our
planning activities.
In the past, land use was based
purely on economic factors. A plan was made and the land changed
to
facilitate use of the site. Very little or no attention was
paid to the ecosystems or natural aspects
of the site (i.e. rivers,
streams, etc).
Responsible land use means not basing
decisions solely on economic factors, but rather taking into
consideration the ethical side of the story. If we follow this
approach of Sustainable Development, we take
into consideration
that the land that we use today is an asset of generations
to come.
With this in mind energeia considers
the specific characteristics of each site and designs specifically
for
that site. We adapt our construction projects to the site
and the benefits to the environment of future
generations are considerable.
